THOMAS GEORGE
BENTLEY SYKES
July 20, 1921 - September 28, 2016
Dad died peacefully, and is now reunited with the love of his life, his wife Joan and grandson Paul.
Left with many wonderful memories are five children Gayle (Jim), Murray (Terry), Gillian (Garry), Valerie, Tom (Connie), seventeen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, sister Helen and brother Harold.
Dad served in World War II as a pilot of a Mitchell aircraft in Bomber Command overseas. He spent the majority of his career with London Life Insurance, where he pioneered “Freedom 55”. After his own retirement at 55 he was able to spend more time on the golf course at Breezy Bend where he was a founding member. He and Mum enjoyed time at the family cottage at Hillside Beach. His last years were spent at Colorado Estates and finally at Deer Lodge Hospital.
We will all miss his unique brand of advice, his sense of humour, and his kind and loving ways.
A family burial has been arranged.
If anyone wishes to make a donation, these are a few of our Dad’s favourite charities: MacDonald Youth Services, Sunshine Fund (through the Winnipeg Free Press) or Winnipeg Harvest.
