It is with great sadness the family announces the peaceful passing of Gordon, our loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend on June 25, 2019 at home, after a lengthy illness.

Gord will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his loving wife of 37 years Dianne, children Andrew (Bonnie), Cheryl Gervais (JP), Brian (Joy), grandchildren Owen, Paige, Caleb, Alora, Luc, Lauren, Addie, sister Judy Bailey (Ed) and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Malcolm in 1955, his mother Florence in 2011, his brother Gary in 2016 and close friend Wilf Schmidt in 2010.

Gord was born in Dauphin Manitoba, but moved to Winnipeg at an early age, growing up in the west end. He worked at Chrysler Parts Depot for 31 years, retiring in 2002.

He was always involved in sports. He played hockey and loved coaching Midget up to Junior levels for over 30 years.  He enjoyed golf and curling, but his true love was baseball, giving him the opportunity to travel to tournaments along with making countless friends and memories.

Gord lived life to the fullest. He was devoted to his family and friends. He loved to play games whether they were on his iPad, or card games, especially Old Maid or Pea Pool with his grandchildren. He enjoyed the backyard swimming pool, especially watching his grandchildren learn to swim. No matter where he was there was always fun and laughter.

The family thanks the homecare workers who are dedicated to client care and kindness, especially Ana and Corinne nicknamed by Gord as Lucy and Ethel and also for the amazing Palliative Care support.

A celebration of Gord’s life will take place on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at 11:00 am at McClure United Church, 533 Greenwood Place.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to McClure United Church or a charity of your choice.
