JIMMY PHILLIPS

Peacefully on April 23, 2017, Jimmy Phillips, beloved husband of Carol, passed away at the Maples Personal Care Home.

Jimmy is survived by Carol, his loving wife of 58 years; children Tanis (Leo), Gregg (Aneta) and Cara Lee (Tim); grandchildren Stacy (Joe), Melissa, Bernard and Mikyla; great-grandchildren Josie, Julie and Jaxon; siblings Viola, Gerry and Yvonne; brother-in-law Marwin (Carol) and his very precious cousins-in-law and well-loved nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his parents Hestella and Colridge and his sister Inez.

Dad was born July 27, 1936.  On January 17, 1959 he married the love of his life, Carol Ceretti. In 1966 Mom and Dad moved to Willow Park.  He became a very well known and much loved resident around the neighborhood. He served many years on the Willow Park Board of Directors.

Dad was a very social man with a personality you couldn’t help but love.  In dad’s world there were no strangers, only friends he had not yet met. He said, “Hi” to everyone with whom he made eye contact. For dad, a quick run to the grocery store could take all day!

Dad had a variety of interests. He loved comic books and Saturday morning cartoons. Saturday afternoons were spent with his dad studying their favourite paper, the horse racing digest, preparing for their evening at the track. Sundays were spent watching his beloved sports.

Dad always enjoyed mom’s friends coming over for a visit and they fondly remember his offer of “can I get you ladies another glass of wine?”

Dad spent the last 10 months being spoiled and pampered at the Maples Personal Care Home. As usual everyone he came in contact with fell in love with him. He made another very special friend at Maples who helped dad daily.

The Phillips family would like to express their sincerest and loving appreciation to Ed for being such a wonderful friend to our dad. We would also like to say, “Thank You” to the staff at the Maples Personal Care Home. You are a caring and loving group of people who make a difference every day.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba or the Kidney Foundation of Canada.

Dad you are gone but

you will always be very near.

We know true love because of you.
