ELVERNA SELMA NORDMAN

 February 5, 1932 - September 9, 2016

née Larson

After a brief illness, Elverna passed away surrounded by loving family members and her two granddaughters, Chantelle and Jennifer holding her hands.

She was predeceased by her parents Helmer and Selma Larson; sister Lorraine Gray; brother Doug and second husband Ivan Nordman.  She leaves to mourn her brother Leo (Wayne) Larson of Richmond, BC; children Diane (Blair) Unger, Glenn (Gerrie) Bigourdin, Randy (Janis) Bigourdin, Terry Bigourdin and Mary-Ann, Janice (Randy) Horel and Brent (Sandy) Bigourdin. She is also survived by her grandchildren Jason and Jaclyn Unger, Kyle and Laura Bigourdin, Matthew, Chantelle and Jennifer Horel; great-grandchildren Preston and Orson Unger, Alice Bigourdin and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Born the third of four siblings in Eriksdale, MB she was raised on the farm in the Nyland School District until her family moved to Winnipeg, where she attended Riverview and Lord Roberts schools.

She married John Bigourdin in 1950 and was a homemaker for many years raising her family of six children. Later, she began working at The Hudson Bay Company until her retirement which is where she met her second husband, Ivan Nordman. They were married in 1990 and enjoyed a happy life together until his death in 1999.

Mom enjoyed having company and was a very good listener to both her children and grandchildren. She loved to laugh and have a good time. Her home was her favourite place to be and it was the meeting place for many happy family gatherings. She kept her sense of humour until the last day of her life and had us all laughing at her bedside before leaving us.

Good bye Mom...Christmas will never be the same without you…Love, your family.

The family would like to thank Dr. Weinberg, the staff at Concordia ICU and in particular, her nurse Corrine. Also, special thanks to friends and relatives who made time to see her before her passing.

Cremation has taken place and per Mom's request there will be no formal service. The family will have a private celebration of her life at a later date.
