Nedine Temple

NEDINE TEMPLE

On Thursday, November 23, 2017, Nedine Freda Temple passed away at Riverview Health Centre with her daughter Lee-Anne and cousin Diana by her side.

She was predeceased by her father, Frank Victor Butler, and her mom, Freda Butler.

Nedine was raised on a farm north of Rossburn, Manitoba in the beautiful valley.  The farm was her love and especially her horses. She shared many memories of when her and her brother Brian rode to school on their horses. One time she told me about how they used to see who would get home faster and then race was then on. Of course she would beat her brother most of the time.

Where ever her Dad was you could guarantee that she was not to far behind to help him with any type of chore. She was a Daddy’s girl that’s for sure. She sure could show her two younger brothers up when it came to handling the cattle, farm machinery and many other farm tasks.

When she was seventeen, she left the farm to pursue new adventures. She moved to Houston, Texas and lived there until 1983 when she moved back to Canada.  She lived in Rivers, Manitoba for a short time where she was a paramedic and ambulance driver.

After that, she found her passion driving the semi. The first company she worked for was Kleysen Transport. After working for them for 9 years she then moved to driving for Yankee for 18 years and spent her last three years driving with Hyndman.

She was one tough cookie when it came to driving, as many of her trucker friends could tell you. She received many awards for her driving excellence. She also received one for saving a fellow trucker from his burning truck.  Her cousin Diana had told her once that she should write a book about her travels.  Many a time we all would sit around her kitchen table listening to her stories. Some stories would bring you to tears in laughter.

She loved to travel and she sure did see a lot of the country with her job. When she was working at Kleysens, she not only got a new driving partner in 1989 but her soul mate, Don. They made quite the team both on and off the road.

Nedine met a lot of people on her travels and became friends with a lot of them. As many would tell you she had a big heart and cared for people.  She would help anyone she could and loved many she met on the road.

She became a great-grandma on June 26, 2017 and was so blessed to hold Aivah Mae in July.  She loved her grandchildren with all of her heart, and was very proud to be a great-gramma too.

She leaves behind to mourn Don Orton, her partner of 28 years; her daughters Lee-Anne (Al) of Wawanesa; Sheryl Miller (Mike) of Abbortsford, B.C.; and Lisa Zetner (Skip) Of Russell, Manitoba;

two grandchildren: Chantelle Kennedy and Nathan Kennedy (Toni); and great-granddaughter Aivah Mae; 2 brothers, Brian Butler and Randy Butler (Barb); her dearest friend and cousin Diana Cherry (Earl), as well as many relatives and friends.
