Chester Morken

June 10, 1939 - September 28, 2018

CHESTER MORRIS MORKEN

Sadly, on Friday, September 28, 2018, Chester passed away, at the age of 79 years, in the Grace Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Chester will be lovingly remembered by his stepdaughters Debbie (Blaine), Diana (Don), and Sherry (Rob).  He will also be missed by his grandchildren Ryan (Faryn), Christopher (Nikki), Ashley (Kyle) and Kendra  (Daniel); great-grandchildren Jessica, Sarah, Katie, Kaydence, Kyra, Christopher, Alexis and Kyle; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family sends a heartfelt thank you to his very special neighbours, Joyce and Connie for all their support and kindness throughout the years.

Chester was predeceased by his first wife Margaret (1990), his second wife Sharon (2014); parents Severt (1975) and Pearl (1985) Morken; siblings Shirley (1990), Leonard (2001), and Gerald (2018).

Chester was born in Vita, Manitoba on June 10, 1939 and was raised in Piney, Manitoba.  He lived in Grosse Isle, Manitoba for a number of years before moving to Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Chester was always a hard worker.  He worked for many years in the furniture manufacturing business before he retired.  At the end of the day he would come home to find his dog Sandy waiting to carry his lunchbox up the stairs for him.

Chester was the kindest, most caring, soft spoken, gentle soul who came into our mother’s life and changed her whole world and ours forever.  He instantly accepted the role of husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather with compassion and love and doing so without a second thought.  We will forever be grateful that he came into our lives and became our father.  Thank you Chester, we love you.

Chester loved to play the guitar and sing; he always loved an audience.  He had the voice of an angel.  He loved animals, especially his dogs, Sandy and Keeno.

As per Chester’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held.  Interment will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3T 0R3.  Click here to donate online.
