LEIGH MARLAINE MILLER

(née Zahara)

Peacefully with her family by her side, our mom and nana passed away on April 2, 2019 at Grace Hospital.

Leigh is survived and mourned by her son Paul (Tina); daughter Cheryl Kehler (Bill); grandchildren Josh and Hannah; and many others whose lives she brightened.

Leigh was incredibly selfless and generous, and her door was always open to family and friends. Her house on Inwood Crescent was not only full of people, it was full of laughter (she had a deliciously dark sense of humour). She could often be found enjoying the company of neighbours with a glass of white wine in her home or backyard. She loved gardening, a lifelong pastime that brought her much enjoyment. Her patience was remarkable. She somehow achieved that very fine (and rare) balance of getting her children to toe the line, while being their closest friend.

Leigh enjoyed a long career at Winpak, and was a loyal employee whose work ethic was unsurpassed. She took immense pride in her role there, greeting each day with professionalism and grace. But retirement was welcome, and she looked forward to spending the next chapter of her life doing more of what she enjoyed.

Leigh experienced numerous challenges throughout her life, but somehow emerged an eternal optimist, able to see the silver lining in any situation. She was an amazing, strong woman. She was also gentle and kind with a soft spot for all animals. She was truly an original, and she is deeply missed.

The family would like to express an abundance of gratitude to the Grace Hospital ICU and Dr. Shelly Zubert for the care they provided for Leigh in her final days.

In accordance with Leigh's wishes, there will be no service. She has been cremated, and a private family celebration of life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, please donate in Leigh’s memory to the Winnipeg Humane Society.
