Don Mc Manaman

April 6, 1952 - October 23, 2017

DONALD "DON" MCMANAMAN

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our brother and uncle, Donald (Don) McManaman at his home in Vita, Manitoba at the age of 65.

Don leaves to mourn his sister Linda Yatsko; brother Glen McManaman; nephews Marty and Isaac (Jennifer), nieces Marcy, Julie (Dale) and Aymsley (Will), and numerous great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Kenneth and Patricia McManaman of Winnipeg, MB.

Don was born in Winnipeg on April 6, 1952, where he spent most of his life. He took care of his Mom, and Dad as they aged. He moved to Sundown MB later in life and then to Vita where he made his home at Shady Oaks Lodge.

Don loved animals, hockey, music his family and friends (probably in that order too.) Don’s love of music was legendary; and he was quite the drummer in his youth! His music collection was large and eclectic. Everyone who knew Don; knew not to interrupt him during Hockey Night in Canada; he was an avid fan of the game and would often get the kids out in the back lane to play some ball hockey.

He was always willing to help someone in need and made many friends throughout his 65 years. He could often be seen biking around Vita, on an errand of some kind or another; more than likely to help someone out.

Don loved animals and the feeling was mutual.  He was known to care for the stray cats in his area, he actually had a bag of cat food and treats on hand at any given time.

A Celebration of Don’s Life will be held Sunday, November 5 at Shady Oaks Lodge at 11am at 132 Drull Ave Vita, MB with interment taking place later at Ridgeland Cemetery in Sundown, MB. It is 35 miles south of Steinbach down No. 12 Hwy. Turn right (south) on gravel road 53 E (Sundown Road) and drive two miles to cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in memory Don to the Winnipeg Humane Society.
