Allen Robert “Bob” Mayne passed way peacefully at the Charleswood Care Home in Winnipeg, MB on May 19, 2019 at the age of 75 years.
Bob was born on September 19, 1943 to Bertie and Jean Mayne in Winnipeg, MB. He married Marie Margaret Ellila on October 20, 1966 setting up their first home in Churchill, MB. Their first child, Robert Edward was born on April 26, 1967, followed by their daughter, Vicki Ann on January 5, 1970. The family moved to Yellowknife in 1972 where Bob was a Firefighter at the Yellowknife Airport until he discovered his true passion as a vacuum (Electrolux) salesman. The family moved to Peace River, Alberta in 1978 where Bob and Marie partnered in the vacuum business running a branch office for the first time. They were transferred to Winnipeg in 1984 to run one of the branches and later moved to Brandon in 2003 after purchasing a franchise location and spent the next 11 years working as a Team until Marie passed away on February 8, 2014. Bob continued to run the franchise until November, 2017 when it was discovered he had Glioblastoma Grade 4 brain cancer.
Bob will be remembered by his son Robert (Linda) Mayne and their children Catherine and Joshua of Winnipeg, Vicki (Mark) Klym and their daughter Savannah of St. Francois Xavier. Bob is also survived by his brothers Ted (Joan) Mayne and their children Amber and Lindsay of Winnipeg; brother William “Bill” (Dorothea) Mayne of Palm Coast, Florida, USA; sister Trudy (Bud) Quint and their children Elizabeth and Alexandra of Winnipeg; Brother-in-law Edwin (Cheryl) Ellila and their daughters, Camille, Janelle, Heather and Bonnie and their children.
As per Bob’s wishes, he was cremated and a simple memorial service (private family) will be held on Saturday, June 1st followed by spreading of his ashes.
