August 21, 1943 - July 14, 2018
At home, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer, it is with deep regret we announce John's passing on Saturday, July 14, 2018, at the age of 74 years.
He leaves to mourn, his beloved wife Brenda, loyal guardian Daisy (dog), his treasured children, Donna (Gord), Cheryl (Ross), and John (Melanie). Also left to mourn are his cherished grandchildren, Blair (Gail), Melissa (Hector), Tawny (Anthony), Kyle, Mariah, Brayden, and his treasured great grandchildren, Izayah, Javier, Emmett, and Lux.
John was born in Winnipeg, MB at St. Boniface Hospital on August 21, 1943 to John and Herta Mauseth. John was the youngest with 3 older sisters. He attended school in Sanford, Mb where he loved to play hockey. While working at Curtis garage in Starbuck, Mb he met Brenda whom he married July 22, 1967.
John and Brenda were happily married one week shy of 51 years and blessed with 2 daughters and a son, 6 grandkids and 4 great grandchildren and the fifth on the way.
Over the years John worked at Yellow Cab, Stern Trucks, General Truck Sales, Beaver Truck Centre, and finished his working years with Murray Kozie Trucking. In his spare time he enjoyed curling with The Manitoba Trucking Association where his team won the championship a few times. In his retirement years, John enjoyed woodworking where we came to inherit numerous keepsakes.
Until he succumbed to cancer, he enjoyed family get-togethers where Johnny played his guitar and Dad loved to sing-a-long.
The family would like to thank Dr. David Breckman and Nicole, Dr. Pat Harris and Leslie, Homecare workers and Palliative doctors and nurses for their special care and attention given to John. They were more than caregivers but friends.
A Celebration of John’s life will be held on at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 28, 2018, in the Headingley Community Center, 5353 Portage Avenue.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba.
