MARY KUKLICA
September 7, 1926 – May 6, 2019
Peacefully in her sleep, Mary Kuklica, the beloved husband of the late George Kuklica, passed away at the St. Joseph’s Residence at the age of 92 years.
Mary was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, George, in 2006 and brothers Frank and Gus. Mary is survived and mourned by her sons William and Edward (Kuki); grandchildren Eddie Jr., Shaun, and Joey; great-grandchildren Maxx, Marshall, Kiara, Lily, and Emily; sisters Mildred, Josie, Gertie, and Helen (Don); and many others whose lives she touched and brightened.
Mary was born in Slovakia in 1926 and with her parents she would later come to Canada in 1937, where they would later settle in Anola, Manitoba.
Her parents would raise seven children, including Mary. While growing up in Anola, Manitoba, she would later meet her beloved George, who she would wed on September 25, 1948. They started a wonderful and successful life together in Poplarfield, Manitoba where they raised two sons, William and Edward. Later, they would move to Winnipeg in 1973, where Mary enjoyed her beautiful home and spent most of her time planting her flowers, which was something she enjoyed dearly.
As time would pass, George would also take Mary on a few adventures, like trips to Hawaii, Europe, and parts of the US. She really enjoyed her travels.
Mary was incredibly selfless and generous, and her door was always open to family and friends. She experienced numerous challenges throughout her life, but somehow emerged an eternal optimist; able to see the silver lining in any situation. She was an amazing, strong woman. She was also gentle and kind with a soft spot for all. She was truly an original, and she will be deeply missed.
A celebration of Mary’s life will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 13, 2019 at 603 Wellington Crescent at Academy Road (Unitarian Church). She will be laid to rest in Green Acres Cemetery just prior to the Celebration, at 12:15 p.m. Those who wish to attend may meet the family at the cemetery entrance.
The family would like to thank the staff ay St. Joseph’s Residence, for all of the kind and compassionate care they gave Mary during her residence.
