James MacKenzie
July 19, 1930 - January 22, 2018
JAMES MACKENZIE
Jim passed away peacefully in the Victoria General Hospital on the morning of January 22, 2018, after a struggle with Alzheimer’s.
He is survived by his loving wife Kathy (Farion) who will miss him terribly. Also surviving is his son Ross (Marion) and grandchildren Elspeth and Sebastian, of Australia; sisters Margaret & Violet in England and brother John in Scotland. He will be missed by his stepson Phil Farion (Nichole) and their children Braedon and Devon; stepdaughter Norma Van Walleghem (Peter) and their children Jordan and Avery.
He was happy to visit the family in Australia before his illness. Jim was born in Glasgow, Scotland on July 19, 1930, arrived in Canada in 1957 but was always a proud Scotsman. He was a long time employee of the Health Sciences Centre. He spent many hours at the Wildewood Club playing badminton, golf, swimming, and working out. He took up tennis and then the crazy game of pickleball. Jim loved live theatre, especially Shakespeare, and volunteered at the theatres in the city. He also volunteered at the summer jazz and fringe festivals. He loved British soccer and a perfect evening was a glass of single malt in one hand, the remote in the other and soccer on TV.
Cremation has taken place and as he wished there will not be a service.
Donations in Jim's memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba , 10-120 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2
