Larry McGuire

February 27, 1951 - January 10, 2017

Larry McGuire passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 in the St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 65 years.

Larry McGuire was born on February 27, 1951 in Montreal, Quebec. He had five sisters, Kelly, Pam, Pat, Linda and Susan. He was predeceased by his parents Jean and Micky McGuire

.

Larry travelled around Canada and the United States when he was younger. He eventually made Winnipeg his home, where he married Jocelyn Smith.  Elizabeth (Liz) was born in 1978. Unfortunately after a few years the marriage ended. He remained in Winnipeg and he and Liz maintained a good relationship.

Larry was always full of ideas. Whether it was swimming in the fountains in the park, building forts in his apartment or chasing my friends and I all over the place, he always managed to make it fun.

Over the years he battled a lot of demons, overcoming most of them. He took adult education classes and received his Grade 12 diploma in 2000. That was a very proud moment for him and his daughter.

Larry became a grandfather for the first time in 2002 and again in 2006. He was so proud of his grandkids and used to brag about them to anyone who would listen.

Larry was a character. He had no problem speaking his mind, which didn't always make him friends. He had the most interesting life and stories to tell of anyone I've ever met.

From Liz: "We didn't have the easiest or most conventional father - daughter relationship, but I loved him and I will always miss him."

Cremation has taken place and there will be no services at this time.
