Joe Gluch

January 25, 1936 - April 18, 2018

It is with great sorrow that we announce that Joseph John Gluch passed away with dignity on April 18, 2018 in the Riverview Health Centre with family by his side.

Joe was born in Winnipeg on January 25, 1936 to Frank and Caroline. Left to mourn Joe’s passing are his loving wife Alice (née Erb) of 58 years; daughters Kimberly (Brad); Kristine (Ernesto); Sherri and his grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents; Brother Victor (Dolores) of Tucson, AZ. and sister Marcelle (Ted) of Chicago, IL.

Joe grew up in the north end of Winnipeg, graduating from Isaac Newton in 1954. After graduation he obtained employment at the Manitoba Power Company, now Manitoba Hydro where he worked until he retired in 1990. Joe loved to travel with his young family and when he retired he and Alice continued to travel Canada and the US settling in Tucson, AZ. Here they spent winters for 28 years. Joe’s second passion was talking.  He spent his summers hanging out with the coffee crew at McDonalds.  Winters were spent having morning chats with the guys at the clubhouse and in the afternoons, they moved to the hot tub to continue their conversations.

Cremation has taken place and as per Joe’s wishes, a private family service will be held.

In lieu of flowers, please hug your loved ones.

The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to all the staff at St. Boniface Hospital and Riverview Health Centre for their care and compassion.
