JOHN RUSSELL FLOOD

September 28, 1959 - April 27, 2016

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we must announce the tragic passing of John Russell Flood, 56, of Winnipeg.

John is survived by the love of his life of 30 years, Wanda (Einarson) and will be deeply missed by his mother Valdine Cosgrove (nee Thorkelson); father Bert Flood; siblings Debbie (Neil), David (Cara), Gerald (Deb), Deneen, Heather, Kelly and his step-siblings Gary, Kevin and Shauna. John will be sadly missed by his many aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his step-father Jim Cosgrove and step-mother Barb Flood.

John attended Gimli High School and Red River Community College where he obtained a certificate in Crimonology.  John enjoyed a rewarding career of 25 years with Trizec Security until his retirement.  Due to John's hardworking nature he further pursued a second career with Manitoba Infrastructure and Transportation as a Flagger and, more recently, as a Spring Weight Restriction Enforcement Officer.  John was dedicated to making the roads safer for all of us to travel.  John enjoyed travelling with work around the province and the comradery he shared with the road crews although John always looked forward to coming home to Wanda and his furry kids. An official lover of all four-legged animals his cats Squeeky and Louie will miss their dad. John had an extended family of dogs who were going for a walk, ready or not, when uncle John showed up for a visit.  John will be reunited with his fur babies Boya, Siggy and Morris.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation for efforts of the paramedics and emergency personnel at the Grace Hospital.

John has been cremated and a celebration of life will take place at Aspen Park Community Centre in Gimli on Saturday May 14, 2016 at 1:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society.

Rest In Peace
