John David "Jack" Bound
September 12, 1945 - January 17, 2017
On Tuesday, January 17, 2017, John David "Jack" Bound passed away at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital in Kenora, at the age of 71 years.
Jack was born on September 12, 1945 in Winnipeg, Manitoba and grew up on Valour Road in the West End. He attended Isaac Brock Elementary School and Tec Voc High School. He then went on to obtain his Red Seal Journeyman’s Ticket, as a Construction Electrician, from Red River College. Jack was a very PROUD member of the I.B.E.W. local 2085.
On December 28, 1966 Jack married Lorna. Although their marriage did not last they never divorced; remaining friends until his passing. Lorna remained with him to the end, even when he lost his long, hard battle with cancer. In the 1990’s Jack moved from Tannis Lake to Lake of Two Mountains where his parents had owned a cottage while he was growing up. It was like going home for him.
His passion for gardening was second-to-none. He was so very proud of the many, many flowers and trees he had planted in the yard. He will certainly be missed at L & L Seeds and Shelmerdine Nurseries. He will also be missed at his favourite store, “Value Village” where he always managed to find that very special deal.
He cherished his time spent with his many friend and relatives at the lake. They always looked out for him, sending over meals and baking or inviting him for dinner. He always appreciated it so much and never failed to tell us about it. He always enjoyed watching the Bomber Games with them and of course “Happy-Hour” on the dock. His special Saturday morning breakfasts with the gang at Falcon Wok. His morning Coffee at “Corner Gas” where he formed many friendships over the years. We cannot forget to mention the special treats given to Bandit who sat ever so patiently waiting for him in the truck.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Reg & Adena Kendrick and Bob & Judy Law for their kindness throughout the years. Thank you also to the many others, too numerous to mention, who were always there for Jack. Thank-You.
The family would also like to give a very, very special thank-you to Jack’s incredibly devoted friend Clay Lund. Clay helped care for him for many years. He stayed with Lorna and Auntie Linda to the very end. A very special thank you to his cousin Alan Curtis for all his assistance and caring throughout this difficult time. Thank you for being such a very special person in our lives and especially for caring for Jack’s beloved Bandit. It meant the world to Jack, knowing she was being looked after by you.
The family would also like to express sincerest gratitude and thanks to the amazing and devoted nursing staff, especially Charlene and Heather L., and James, his attendant. You all took such good care of Jack while he was in the hospital. The family thanks you with all their hearts.
Jack was predeceased by his parents John and Verna Bound. He is survived by Lorna; sons David (granddaughter Jessica) and Jamie and his wife Sandra (grandchildren Haley and Dryden); brother Lorne and his daughters Morgan and Maegan; aunt Phyllis as well as numerous cousins.
Cremation has taken place and according to his wishes there will a celebration of his life at the Lake of Two Mountains for family and close friends during the summer of 2017.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Jack’s memory to: It’s A Dog’s Life in Kenora, ON or to the Winnipeg Humane Society.

Shining in the sunlight
Roaring engines
Headed somewhere in flight”
