EGON HARTWICH

On Sunday, January 14, 2018, Egon Hartwich peacefully passed away with his family at his side.

Egon is survived by his wife Wanda, of 46 years; daughter Bridget (Lyle); sons Richard (Shannon) and David (Jennifer);  as well as six grandchildren. Egon is also survived by sisters Elly (Doug), Ingrid (Ed), Erika (Don), and Rita (Steve); along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Egon, along with Wanda, were proud owners and proprietors of the Whitemouth Department Store for many years. The store was a very important part of Egon’s life. He was very involved in the community when they lived in Whitemouth, including the Community Club, Water Co-Op, Hospital board, School board and with the Redeemer Lutheran Church.

More recently Egon and Wanda moved to Tyndall to be close to family. Opa looked forward to visits with his grandchildren (Sarah, Jack, Gavin, Noah, Dixon, Kadyn) or attending various activities in which they were involved.

Dad, you were our source of council and our rock.

Egon/Dad/Opa, you will be missed dearly.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba.

The family would like to send a big thank you to the Beausejour EMS and the staff at St. Boniface General Hospital for their care.

The Rose Beyond the Wall

A rose once grew where all could see,

sheltered beside a garden wall,

And, as the days passed swiftly by,

it spread its branches, straight and tall…

One day, a beam of light shone through

a crevice that had opened wide---

The rose bent gently toward its warmth

then passed beyond to the other side…

Now, you who deeply feel its loss,

be comforted---the rose blooms there---

Its beauty even greater now,

nurtured by God’s own loving care.
