June 29, 1919 - July 23, 2015
It is with deep regret that we announce the death of Beth Gould at Grace Hospital. She was born in Waskada, MB, the eldest daughter of John and Lizzie (nee Gibson) Gould.
Most of her schooling was in Teulon, MB before attending Success Business College in Winnipeg. In 1941, Beth joined the Civil Service and spent 6 years working in Ottawa. In 1947, she returned to Winnipeg and worked for the Department of Veteran Affairs and the Canadian Pension Commission. Beth retired in 1974 and worked as a volunteer for a variety of organizations, including church committees, taught Sunday School, helped with CGIT, Concordia hospital gift shop and Meals on Wheels.
It was important to her to keep up with current affairs and sporting events. She knit many scarves, mitts and sweaters for the Cheer Board. Beth read extensively, loved to travel and did many pieces of needle point until her eyesight failed. Beth was a woman of strong faith and was a long-time member of both Grey Street United Church and the UCW.
Beth was predeceased by her parents, sister Enid and 3 nephews Garry, Bradley and David. She is survived by her niece Carrol Helander and great nieces Enid and Jody – all from Australia. She is also survived by brother-in-law Allen Helander in High Prairie, AB; Wanda Helander and her sons Michael and Lucas in Toronto; many cousins and a host of friends.
A celebration of life, honouring Beth, will be held at the First Unitarian Universalist Church, 603 Wellington Crescent, on Thursday, July 30th at 2 p.m. Officiating will be Reverend Earl Gould. A private family burial will take place at a later date in Windsor Cemetery (near Teulon, MB).
A special thanks to the residents of Lions Place, staff members and Home Care workers who, Beth felt, were all like family. In addition, Beth especially looked forward to the many activities at her Wednesday Day Club. Many thanks are also extended to Beth’s friends at Grey Street United Church for their caring and many kindnesses.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of choice.

Years ago, Grey Street United Church put on a funny fashion show. Beth took part in it and wore a double breasted jacket ... literally. She walked out sporting two 'pairs of breasts' - a pair in the front and a pair in the back.
