JOHN STANLEY DICKENSON

With sadness, our family announces the passing of John (JD) Dickenson. Dad passed in the early morning hours just as he wanted; peacefully and in the presence of his children. He fought a difficult battle with cancer the last few years, but did so with remarkable courage, resilience, and grace.

JD had many passions and interests. His favourite place to be was at the lake; camping or at the cottage, out on the boat or telling stories around a campfire. No doubt, he passed on his love for the lake to his children and grandchildren and it also brought many special friends into his life including his Royal Lake Gang.

John will be remembered as a closet architect, a handyman who could “MacGyver” almost anything that needed fixing.  He took pride in the many building projects that he completed over the years from model train sets, remodelling cottages, decks and more.

His children and grandchildren were his pride and joy and he loved listening to them laugh and banter back and forth at any occasion when they were all together.

He will be truly missed by Mike (Tara), Shannon Peever (Tom), Tim (Lesley-ann) and his grandchildren; Jordan, Kaelyn, Tristan, Lexi, Ashlyn, Sydney & Riley. He will also be lovingly remembered by his wife Linda and her children David (Macy and Easton) and Lisa; sister Barbara Chaloner (Don); brother-in-law Barry (Judy); and numerous other family members and friends whose lives he touched along the way.

John’s family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to his good friend, Bob Mick who enriched his life immeasurably with his friendship. In his last few months,

Dad was lucky enough to find himself in the care of the people of Riverview and then Jocelyn House who helped us to provide him with a loving, peaceful, and comfortable end to his amazing life.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in John’s name to Jocelyn House Hospice, a place that he called home. http://www.jocelynhouse.ca/

A celebration of John’s life will take place at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at 603 Wellington Crescent at Academy Road (Unitarian Church) Please come for a Joe Louis and stay for a story.
