Herbert "Herbie" Cyrankiewitz
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Herbert Cyrankiewitz, on Thursday July 20, 2017, at the River East Personal Care Home, Winnipeg.
Herbie leaves to cherish his many memories with his sister Hedwig in Germany, brother-in-law Horst, niece Rosemarie (Fred), nephew Arnie (Lisa), grandnephews Adam, and Fletcher, grandnieces Holly and Hannah in Winnipeg, and other family members in Europe.
Herbie was predeceased by his sister Elfrieda, brother Edward, mother Nataliea, father Kasimir, niece Teresa and the love of his life, Lydia.
Herbert was born in Rozyszcze, Poland and moved to Hamburg, Germany as a child. In 1953, Herbert and his sister Elfrieda sailed to Canada. Herbie toured Canada from east coast to west coast before settling in Kapuskasing, Ontario where he would work as a lumberjack.
In the late 1950s, Herbert would move to Winnipeg to be closer to his sister Elfie and her new family. Herbie worked for many years with Kimberly Clark Corperation and then worked in Plastic manufacturing until he retired. Herbie was blessed to have met the love of his life, Lydia who became one of our family. Herbie and Lydia were planning a wedding when Lydia passed away suddenly. Herbie who believed in God found peace in knowing that they would be together for eternity someday.
Herbie loved his family here and in Germany. He would take many trips to Germany to visit with his father Kasimir, mother Nataliea, sister Hedwig, brother Edward and many nieces and nephews.
In Winnipeg, Herbie loved the Sunday lunches at his sister Elfie's house, Birthday parties, and especially Christmas when he would shower his Nieces and Nephew with wonderful gifts. Boxing Day was Herbie's special day which turned in a family tradition. Everyone would spend the afternoon at Herbie's place enjoying many different types of cakes, and look through his many photo albums.
Herbie loved family and even though he did not have children of his own, he cherished his relationships with all of his nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. He will be in our hearts and in our memories forever.
A private family celebration of his life is planned.
