Roger Cure
July 13, 1948 - August 16, 2018
"Your wings were ready but our hearts were not."
With sad hearts we said goodbye on Thursday, August 16, 2018. Roger passed away at the age of 70 years.
Roger was born in St. Boniface, Manitoba on July 13, 1948 and although Roger grew up in St. Pierre, Manitoba, he spent most of his time in St. Malo which is where he met the love of his life Louise, his little "chou". Roger and Louise were married for 47 years and together they found a way to smile through it all. Together they had three children, Regent (Kelly), Bernard (Dana), and Brigitte (Bob). Roger was loved by so many people and everyone who knows him knows he loved nothing more than to joke and make funny faces. Because of his jovial attitude he came to be known by many different names. In his teenage years his friends began by calling him Vicar, then his in-laws referred to him as Raccoon and now the younger generation calls him Podge.
For 27 years, Roger worked as a shipper/receiver at Versatile and then he went on to do what he loved most "driving Truck". For 9 short months he got to live his dream and be out on the highway meeting people and seeing the sights. Being a man of many interests, he enjoyed fishing, both summer and winter, making puzzles and tinkering around. He was our very own Mr. Fix-it. Podge was well known for making the best stove-top popcorn and he made a mean spaghetti. He enjoyed making a big batch of popcorn and watching movies with his family.
Roger was predeceased by his father (Neree), mother (Alice), sister (Suzie), father-in-law (Benoit) and his precious son Bernard who became his number one Angel. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife (Louise), son Regent (Kelly), daughter Brigitte (Bob), Dana, his grandchildren Breanne (Darren), Cassidy, Alex (Derek), Cameron, Joshua, Ayla (Tyler), Marie (Miguel), Samantha and Everett. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren Cale, Robyn, Hunter, Desiree and Callie (his little Papouse) and his two brothers, two sisters, and very large extended families.
Cremation has taken place and funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 23, 2018 at St. Malo Roman Catholic Church with prayers at 10:30 a.m. followed by a service at 11:00 a.m
We would like to thank all of the family and friends who came out to help and support us during this difficult time.
