Peacefully on Friday, October 21, 2016, Craig Johnston passed away at the Health Sciences Centre at the age of 44 years.
Craig is survived by his mother and best-friend Sandy Johnston, uncles Damon Johnston, Raymond (Charlotte) Johnston, Wayne Johnston (Joan); extra special cousins Aurlia Boucher, Riel Olson, Jeremy Johnston and Louise Esquega; friends Rosa, Dr. Gregan (HIV specialist), Kelly, Bridgette, Nelson and Claudia. Predeceased by his dad Vincent Esquega; grandmothers Betty Blaikie (nee Johnston) and Margeret Esquega; grandfathers Paulius Joseph Grand Louis and Victor Esquega Sr. and uncle Victor Esquega Jr.
Craig was born on Thursday, April 27, 1972 at the Women’s Pavilion in Winnipeg. He was considered by his mother to be the greatest gift The Creator has ever bestowed upon her. He was the most kind, generous and spunky man a person could meet. He was happiest while volunteering to educate the public about the misconceptions surrounding the HIV virus. He was always excited to come home to Thunder Bay to visit his mother and did so as often as he could. The feeling was shared mutually with his mother Sandy.
He will be sadly missed by all of his family and friends who look forward to seeing him again in the next life.
A celebration of Craig’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, October 29, 2016 in the First Unitarian Universalist Church of Winnipeg, 603 Wellington Crescent.
