Linda grew up in Winnipeg, the eldest of nine children, After high school she attended Red River Community College and attained a certificate in Bookkeeping and began her career with R G Cook Insurance for over 20 years. After Cooks closed, she worked for smaller firms for a while. She was very happy to finish out her career working for friends at Mills Insurance until her retirement.
Linda was an avid gardener, honing her skills for years perfecting her gardens. She loved going to her place in South Beach, Gimli, for over 30 years where she continued to create her gardens. Later she joined with her sisters quilting, and loved making quilts for friends and family until failing eyesight stopped her. After her retirement she turned her focus on getting her first ever pet. She set her sights on a little white Maltese puppy, and named her Molly. It was love at first sight and she loved that puppy dearly.
Family was very important to Linda. She loved her brothers and sisters and loved to entertain them with Birthdays, Christmases, Showers and Tea Parties on the deck, or just one on one visits. She was a very generous person either with sisterly advise or little gifts and remembrances. She was a very giving and genuine person. She then rekindled her love of camping and purchased a small camper and with her puppy and husband in tow, she set out visiting various campgrounds visiting with friends and family and meeting new people.
Linda would like to thank Dr. Mathen at Misericordia Health Centre, and Dr. Wiseman at Cancer Care Manitoba for all their help in the past years. Finally, her appreciation goes out to Lori at Palliative Care and to nurses Kija, Linda, and Joanne. Who took such good care of her with much kindness and compassion until the end.
In keeping with Linda’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held later in the new year.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make a donation to Cancer Care Manitoba Foundation.
