Mike Clive

"Standard Mike"

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Michael William Clive on April 18, 2019 at the age of 72 years.

Mike was predeceased by his parents, William and Isabella Clive, and lifelong partner Susie Shepherd.

Mike was born in Montreal to William and Isabella who raised four boys including brothers Patrick, Steve, and Rick. Mike was married to Joan from 1968 to 1980 and fathered daughters Mona, Janie, and Melissa.  After moving to Winnipeg Mike met Susie Shepherd who became his partner and best friend until her heartbreaking passing in 2013.

Mike will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his brothers, daughters, sons-in-law Mikey (Mona) and Doug (Melissa), grandson Kalen, nieces Beverly, Brandy and Bailey, nephews Warren and Patrick, and his many friends.

Mike lived in Montreal until 1978, when he moved to Kelowna, B.C. After two years in B.C., Mike moved to Winnipeg where he lived the rest of his life. His first occupation was a salesman for the General Textiles Company in Montreal and Kelowna, followed by many years as Night Manager of the St. Regis Hotel in Winnipeg. Later in his career he incorporated his love of travel and fishing and worked as guide and cook at fly-in fishing camps.

Known as “Standard Mike” to his many friends at the Marion hotel, Mike enjoyed storytelling, playing poker, refereeing soccer and organizing a variety of sporting pools. Mike also had many other interests including fishing, curling, golfing, cycling, gardening, photography, chess, collecting coins and doing jigsaw puzzles. He especially enjoyed travelling and sharing experiences with family and friends.

Cremation has taken place. Respecting Mike’s wishes, there will be no funeral service.
