GEORGE MARCIEN CARDINAL
It is with great sadness that, with his family by his side, George Marcien Cardinal passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at the age of 76 years.
George will be lovingly remembered by the mother of his five children, Anita (Bernie); his children Coreen (Rick), Karen, Ron (Laurie), Dean (Tracy), Geordie (Amy); daughter-in-law Melanie; son-in-law Bill; sisters Jane and Bunny; and his best friend of 40 years, Ernie. George was a grandfather (Papa) to Randi, Jorden, Chris, Miranda, Haley, Racquelle, Elijah, Emily, Sierra as well as his seven great grandchildren. George will also be missed by his long-time partner Linda; her children Lori, Darcy (Murry), Cori, Chad; and grandchildren Shalynn, Tyler, Bryce, Lyle, Brittney and Jordan.
George had a passion for life. He was never one to shy away from a good gab session or a laugh and those around him enjoyed his many stories. George loved watching the Winnipeg Jets and Toronto Blue jays, and going out with his friends on the weekends for breakfast. He also enjoyed listening to country and fiddle music.
George was highly valued by his employers. He started his working career at Maple Leaf Construction where he worked for 15 years. Most recently he worked for Houston Properties who’s relationship with Jeff and Houston Properties extended beyond Georges employment there.
George was predeceased by his parents Marcien and Marguerite, and his siblings Bill, Maurice, Len, Allen, Irene, Virginia, and Margaret.
The family would like to thank Seven Oaks Hospital and the St. Boniface ICU for their loving care and compassion.
A celebration of George’s life will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, November 1st, 2018 at the Unitarian Church on 603 Wellington Crescent at Academy Road. Arrangements are in the care of Integrity Cremation and Funeral Planning. If family and friends would like to dress in Jets or Blue Jays attire in honor of George you’re more than welcome.
In lieu of flowers the family request is to make a donation of time or money to a charity close to your heart.
Friends and family are encouraged to wear their favourite sports jersey to the celebration of George's life in honour of his love of sport.
