ROY BRUCKSHAW

On Sunday, May 6, 2018, Roy passed away with his family by his side at the age of 72 years.  Roy will be deeply missed by his wife of 50 years, Joan; children Shannon (Rob), Ashlea, and Ryan (Sarah); grandchildren Rylee, Silas, Liam and Logan; sister Bonnie; many relatives as well as his two childhood best friends, Wayne Bowman and David Gregg.

Roy earned his high school diploma at Kelvin High School.  He graduated from the Manitoba Institute of Technology (now Red River College) with a diploma in Electronic Technology and furthered his education by completing the Canadian Institute of Management program, commencing at the University of Manitoba and finishing at the University of Ottawa.  Roy started his long and fulfilling 39 year career with Manitoba Telephone System in the Engineering Department.  He completed two assignments with Telecom Canada in Ottawa, Ontario, retiring his career on July 30th, 2004 in Winnipeg as the Director of Regulatory Affairs.

Roy enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, reading, carpentry, gardening, cooking, travelling and spending time at our cottage at Victoria Beach.  Roy was a handy man, there was no job he wouldn’t tackle and do it well.  Roy was humble, kind and caring.  He was a loving husband, father, brother and friend who will be truly missed.  He had a great sense of humor and was universally loved!

Our family would like to thank Dr. Hayward, Roy's long time family Physician, along with the doctors and caring nurses in the Emergency and ICU departments at the St. Boniface Hospital for all of their care, kindness and compassion while caring for Roy.  Thank you to Integrity Death Care for handling all arrangements including cremation.  A celebration of life with family and friends will be held on June 23rd.  In lieu of flowers, please kindly donate to the Canadian Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation at http://cpff.ca/
