Floripes Elda da Costa Barbosa

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our dear mother Floripes, on Friday, August 31, 2018 at the age of 85. Mom passed away with her family by her side.

Floripes was pre-deceased by her daughter Grace; parents Angelina and Joao; and sister Prizelia. Remaining to forever cherish her memory are husband Elias; children Philomena (Rob) Morris, John (Melanie) Barbosa, Mary (Brent) Dreger; grandchildren Brittany, Stephanie, Alanna (Morris), Mariah, Mikayla, Matthew (Barbosa),
Brandon and Samantha (Dreger); sister Teresa; and numerous relatives in Winnipeg, Toronto, Edmonton, Halifax and Portugal.

Mom was born in Santa Clara, Sao Miguel, Acores, Portugal. Mom taught Sunday school for many years in Portugal, and was a devout catholic, following her faith without falter.

The first time she met Elias, she was seven years old. Who would have known they would go on to spend 64 years of marriage together, with three
beautiful children. The family immigrated to Winnipeg in 1963.

Mom was known as a phenomenal cook, baker, and wonderful seamstress who made the most amazing blankets for her family.

She was an extremely loving mother and grandmother. Grandma (VoVo) would give the warmest hugs and kisses, and loved
everyone she met.

She enjoyed listening to all genres of music,
including ACDC, Tom Jones, and Elvis. Mom loved to spend time with her family at the cabin.

She loved her family like nothing else, never missing an evening phone call to check in on the kids.

She was a devout mother and wife, and meant the world to us all.--

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.  The Family would like to thank all those involved in her care; Charleswood Personal Care Home, Grace Hospital and Deer Lodge Centre.

Prayers will be held at 7:30 pm on Thursday, September 6, 2018 in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Roman Catholic Church, 4588 Roblin Blvd. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 7 at 10:30 am in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Roman Catholic Church.  Interment will be in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. Please join the family afterward for a light lunch at Our Lady of Perpetual Help.
