Clare Theresa Aylesworth
July 7, 1957 - April 6, 2018

Clare peacefully took her last breath in the St. Boniface Hospital at 12:40 am on April 6, 2018 at the age of 60 years. She was surrounded by love from her family and friends, and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Clare is survived by her daughter Patricia; sisters Bepi and Salome White; brother Paulus; numerous family members back home in Papua New Guinea, as well as many friends here in Winnipeg.
Clare was born in Karenum Village in the region of Kultumapul Nabylier, Papua New Guinea (PNG) on July 7, 1957. She met Edward Aylesworth in the City of Lae, Morobe Province, who was on a work visa from Canada. They married shortly after.
Clare came to Canada in 1979, with her daughter Patricia Daguma. Leaving her family and village behind was very difficult for her. She knew little English, had a grade school education and didn’t know what to expect of life in a new country. Clare faced many hardships and challenges in Canada but she persevered and succeeded in life, thanks to her strength and fierce independence. Her family back home was always in her thoughts and she worked hard to send money back home. Clare was so caring and generous, with a beautiful smile so big it was contagious. She loved her job, especially the children she worked with, and was a dedicated care giver for many years.
There will be a small private gathering to celebrate her life on Sunday April 15, 2018 between the hours of 4:00 and 8:00 pm. Let us pay our respects to her memory, eat food and share stories. If you would like to attend please contact her daughter Patricia for the address at 778-980-1564.
Donations in Clare’s memory can be made out to Newcomers Employment and Education Services.
