ELIZABETH "BETH" IRENE AUDETTE

(née FENNELL)

Elizabeth Irene Audette (Beth), 86, passed away on December 4, 2018 in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Beth was predeceased by her husband Robert Charles Stanley (Stan); sisters Leafie and Eleanor; and brother Cecil. She is survived by her son Stan Jr. (Dorian); daughter Jane Dyck; son David (Jessica); daughters Louise (Kevin) and Marie Flather (David); 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Born on July 29, 1932 in Melfort, Saskatchewan, Beth grew up in town but with country roots. She met Stan in high school and after acquiring a BSc in Science from the University of Alberta, married him in August 1958 in Melfort, Saskatchewan, then the travel adventure started. During the time of these travels two children were born in Canada, one in the US and two in Great Britain. In the early 70s the call of the land (and the chickens) drew the family to operate a farm near Ile des Chenes, Manitoba and then in the early 80’s, the farm was sold, and the move was made to an acreage south of Winnipeg. From this point on, adventure continued across Asia, North America and Europe. Driving much of this travel was her passion for genealogy. She devoted many hours of research at churches, government resources, interviewing scores of people and volunteering at the Manitoba Genealogical Society. An excellent conversationalist, Beth would always provide commentary when prompted, especially sharing stories related to her family.

Beth’s life will be celebrated 1:00 pm, Friday, December 14, 2018, at 603 Wellington Crescent at Academy Road (Unitarian Church).

In lieu of flowers, contributions, in Beth's memory, to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba at alzheimer.mb.ca would be greatly appreciated by the family.
