Carl Ateah

August 9, 1938 - June 3, 2018

Victoria Beach. Manitoba

On Sunday June 3, Carl Ateah left his earthly abode to join the Victoria Beach Knights baseball team in the sky. He was welcomed with great fanfare by his brother George Ateah, cousin Fred David and best friend, Wayne Thomas. The crack of the bat and the cheer from the crowd could be heard in the distance.

Carl will be greatly missed by his wife of 58 years, Nancy-Lou Ateah, (nee Baillie), his Sons, Robert Ateah and Mark Ateah and Granddaughter Carly Ateah. He was pre deceased by his Father Edward Ateah, his Mother Ann Ateah ( nee Craigie) his Brother George Ateah and his sister Eileen Austen and daughter in law, Melodie Ateah (Bob Ateah).

Carl was a distinguished police officer with The Winnipeg Police Department, retiring as a sergeant. He received awards for bravery in his career.

After taking an early retirement, he made his dream come true of working full time at his business, Ateah Construction and making Victoria Beach ( which he loved so much) his permanent home. He employed local carpenters and many worked for him over 30 years. He was a great boss, who was well respected by his employees. The 'after work beverages' at his home on Fridays were full of laughter and good times. Wonderful memories.

Throughout his career, building cottages and doing renovations, Carl made many friends in the cottage area and he cherished his time working for them, often visiting with them long after the work was completed.

Carl was a man of principles. Hard work, integrity and respect for everyone were important to him. He also was very kind and generous to his family, friends and employees.

Cremation has taken place and a private family gathering will be held in his honour.

We would like to thank our amazing First Responders, who were at our home within 7 minutes of calling. We are blessed for their dedication to our community.
